Research Information:

Possible study for 'The Passing of Venus', an oil painting dating from about 1875 (Junior Common Room, Exeter College, Oxford). This study also owes a debt to the red chalk study of the Libyan Sibyl by Michelangelo (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York), for the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
