Research Information:

This is a sketch for 'St George Slaying the Dragon', one of seven paintings commissioned to decorate Myles Birket Foster's dining room at Witley, Surrey. This composition differs considerably from the final design, and is extremely energetic and vigourous. The finished painting seems almost static in comparison.
