Research Information:

This study relates to 'St George Slaying the Dragon', the sixth of seven paintings by Burne-Jones for Myles Birket Foster's home in Witley, Surrey. It differs from the final version of this composition, both the oil (Gallery of New South Wales, Australia) and the gouache (William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow). There is also a faint study of an arm in the top left corner.
