Description:

Recto shows three studies on one sheet of Psyche exploring Cupid's Palace: going through cupboards, at table, and entering the bedroom. Verso is a study of Psyche throwing herself off a mountain, a later episode.

This is one of 86 studies for illustrations to 'The Story of Cupid and Psyche' made to accompany the poem in William Morris' 'The Earthly Paradise'. On the reverse is the drawing similar to the wood engraving 1913P181 of 'Psyche's Sister Flinging Herself into Cupid's Valley'.
