These studies were not used in the final compositions of either 'The Rock of Doom' or 'The Doom Fulfilled' [otherwise known as 'Perseus Slaying the Sea-Serpent'], in either the Southampton or Staatsgalerie versions. However, the study to the centre left was used in 'Perseus and Andromeda' begun in 1876, but unfinished, which is presently in the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide.
